DIVISION TWO

OLD SCOTCH CC 159 (35.5)

def. by MELBOURNE HIGH 5/215 (40)

The twos had another disappointing showing on the weekend, with another heavy defeat to Melbourne High. For the second week in a row bowling first we allowed the opposition to get away to a strong start and push the score over 200.

Despite an early partnership between Matt Mitchell and Mark Griffiths, we were unable to gain any momentum with the bat, crumbling all out for 159 after 36 overs. Tom Edney (48) was a shining light with the bat, batting well through the middle overs to try and keep us in the game.

We look forward to another massive clash against Xavier this weekend as we aim to chalk up our first win for Season 2021/22.

DIVISION THREE

OLD SCOTCH CC 180 (38)

def. by MELBOURNE HIGH 9/183 (39)

It was a beautiful day and Scotch had no hesitation in batting on the flip of the coin. A hard hitting opening partnership had us over 50 after just a few overs and we continued from that to be close to 100 for only a few at drinks. However, the second stanza was not as productive and we closed all out for what seemed at the time a reasonable 180 in the 38th. Santhush was the standard out with the bat compiling a fine 65, with able support from a number of others.

Coming out to bowl we thought we had enough if we bowled well - and that thought was further strengthened when we picked up 2 wickets in the second over. However, Melbourne High continued to attack anything they could and battled their way to a win in the last over of the day and with one wicket in hand. Wickets were shared across the bowling group.
