A-TEAM RAINED OUT & CELEBRITIES GO DOWN

It was a mixed weekend for both Old scotch teams, with the A-Team washed out after being on target for a huge score, whilst the Celebrities fought gallantly to go down to Old Geelong on Sunday at Scotch.

On Saturday afternoon, the A-Team batted under threatening skies against last years premiers Old Geelong, and with Seb Armstrong blazing a quick fire 79, and Tom Murray contributed 23 as the Scotchies were well placed at 3/139 after 26 overs when the rains came down washing out play for the day,

Disappointing end to a promising day.

The Celebrities on Sunday took on Old Geelong at Scotch on a fine day for cricket. OGGs won the toss and put the Celebrities in on a greenish wicket that was moving off the seam. Young tyro Jono Loveridge anchored down the innings with an excellent 61 and along with a late flurry from Santhush Gunawardene who contributed an always entertaining 18, the Celebrities cobbled together 9/168. Their best score of the year, but with the sun drying the pitch out, it did not look quite enough.

And so it proved, with Old Geelong reaching the target in the 34th over for the loss of only two wickets. An incredible effort against a very strong Celebrities bowling outfit featuring James Halse, Will Meggitt and John Stavris to name a few.

This Saturday the A-Team venture out to Trinity playing fields to take on Old Trinity in what is sure to be a high class clash, while on Sunday, the Celebrities are at home at Scotch against Melbourne High Old Boys in shapes as a season defining match up.

Come on down and lend the boys your support, as it is always appreciated.
