BUT SCOTCHIES RUN DOWN

Tim Hosking today carved out a polished 42 with excellent supporting contributions from a host of Scotchies to help Old Scotch post 170 against Old Trinity at Meares Oval today..

On a featherbed pitch and a lightning fast outfield, it never looked quite enough, though the Old Scotch boys bowled well to take seven Old Trinity wickets.

Unfortunately, it was not enough to stop Old Trinity from recording a three wicket win to complete the double over Old Scotch in season 2014/15.

Earlier, it seemed as if the Scotchies were in complete control as Dickinson and Hosking consolidated after the early loss of Melville and an under the weather Shearer who still contributed a valuable 20 before succumbing.

But the loss of both Dickinson and Hosking caused the innings to lose momentum, as no viable partner supported an in form George Dick who peeled off some great drives before holing out off a full toss.

A heroic cameo from the injury ridden Tom Whitelaw who smashed some wonderful boundaries while batting with the tail saw the Scotchies post a competitive 170 off their forty overs.

Unfortunately, it was perhaps 40 below a par score as the Old Scotch lads bravely fought to the bitter end, but were unable to prevent Old Trinity prevailing by three wickets.

The Celebrities play Whitefriars tomorrow at Meares Oval in a do-or-die encounter. Get around the lads as they need your support.
