The Old Scotch 1st XI today fell to a disappointing 9 wicket loss to Melbourne High Old Boys at Meares Oval in spite of the heroics of skipper Tom Murray who continued his hot summer form with a gritty 61.

After a spectacular start for all the wrong reasons, Tom Murray found himself walking to the wicket with the Scotchies in dire need. The situation was made for him and in tandem with the ever stoic Tommy "corpse" Whitelaw, they resurrected the situation as only they know how.

Whitelaw contributed a patient 23 and Tim Hosking chimed in with 33 to drag the Old Scotch innings up to a respectable 157. At least 50 below par on such a glorious day.

And so it proved, as the Melbourne High Old Boys cruised to victory for the loss of only one wicket.

The chronically undermanned Celebritries continued their sorry start to the season in MCC2nd Division with yet another crushing loss to the high flying Monash Tigers. The bowlers performed admirably to restrict the young Tigers to 171. But the Celebritries batting disintegrated in spectacular fashion yet again.

In brighter news, Haydos Heroes in 3rd Division recorded an impressive win to keep the Old Scotch name shining bright on a sad week for cricket.

In the mean time...
