Old Scotch Cricket Club were thankful that the rain gods intervened as Scotch College 1st XI were charging to victory in the annual match played on the Main Oval at Scotch College.

On a cold and windswept day, Old Scotch were dismissed for 167 in the 42nd over, with Cameron Melville top scoring with a finely crafted 51. Lending able support were Matthew Dickinson with an entertaining 28, Will Hayes with 20 and Sam Shearer also with 20.

The students were two wickets down for about 90 when a wild storm ended play with the 1st XI looking likely to run down the total set for them.

For the school 1st XI, young opening batsman Douglas was a stand out with a composed 42.
