Sam Shearer

 

Sam "Shears" Shearer is a gun batsman capable of batting anywhere in the top six as well as a class fast bowler who "hits the pitch hard" to borrow a well worn cliche. Shears represents an imposing obstacle for any opposition team. In the field, Shears is a dynamo and has the distinction of taking the catch of the summer of 2013/14 with a magnificent leaping one handed effort at mid wicket from a shot that was rocketing to the boundary until Shears plucked it out of thin air like a magician. Shears is also a champion soccer player who terrorises defences with his skill and goal scoring nouse. With an extremely dry sense of humour, it is not always obvious when Shears is trying to be funny, or is merely making an observational remark on the minutiae of life. Whatever the case, Shears is an abundantly talented youngster who has his best cricketing years ahead of him and will surely captain OSCC one day. A top bloke who has greatness stamped all over him.
