Gary Bennett

Old Scotch Cricket Club legend Gary "GB" Bennett has what can be euphemistically called "a very punchable face". At least that is what opposition teams will tell you! Allied to his annoying high pitched voice that sounds like fingernails dragging along a blackboard, GB never fails to get under the skin of the opposition with his famous cry of "MAXIMUM!" everytime a Scotchie smashes one out of the park. If he was an opponent, you would simply loathe him. But to us, he is the greatest left arm opening bowler that ever lived. Think we are exaggerating? GB has won the bowling averages a staggering fourteen times...maybe it is even more? When other fast bowlers have long hung up the boots and retired, Gary Bennett just keeps bowling better - and according to some astute judges - faster than ever before! He has won premierships with the ball, and famously, he has won a premiership with the bat in dramatic circumstances during the Scotchies golden four-in-a-row  premiership run!  Named in the Old Scotch Cricket Club "Team of the Half Century" in 1999, GB has only added to his unebelievable record since with incredible spells that have left rival top orders in disarray and GB continuously winning the season bowling averages like it is his birth right. The man is a star, and we salute him!
